Juanita D. Price

This blog is a both a tribute to Juanita Delois Price and also a place in which her ideas can be shared with other people.

All her life, Juanita had a gift of understanding people, but this gift was honed during an abusive relationship which occurred before there was a domestic violence movement or battered women's shelters. The abuser threatened her life and yet she was able to change her relationship with him so she was able to leave in peace without him stalking her.

Juanita spent the remainder of her life--some forty years--helping other women to understand domestic and other forms of violence. She worked in two battered women's shelters and she worked individually with women and men.

Juanita had a radically different understanding of the dynamics of human relationships. Her understandings will be part of this blog. She self-published a book on her abusive relationship (xxx) and she and I published an article in the Journal of Black Psychology outlining her ideas. However, we made many other attempts to publish and were not able to.

In her book, Womansearch, Juanita describes Spiritual Person (the Holy Spirit) asking her to help the people and she spent the rest of her life doing that and seeking ways to spread her ideas. The web will allow her ideas to be spread without academic (and other) gatekeepers standing in the way.
